FAQ's about KAT equipment

Can I trust KAT equipment?

Absolutely.  Our equipment is not manufactured by a corporate company who knows little about the practical side of farming.  Both our director and R & D manager are farmers and use all KAT equipment in their own farming operations.  Therefore our equipment is tried and tested before it gets sold to customers.

Do you have customer service?

Of course! Our friendly and knowledgeable sales representatives are available to answer your questions 24/7/365.  If they can’t answer your questions, they’ll get you the answers.  Both our director and R & D manager are farmers and have a wealth of knowledge and experience in livestock and crop farming.

How long before I can get my new KAT equipment?

We carry stock of all KAT equipment, except for stalk choppers (rolmoere) and rotary hoes (roltand egge) which are built on a per-order basis.  Sometimes stock moves faster than we can build, but we’ll endeavour to supply you with your new KAT machine in the shortest possible time.

Can I order spare parts for my KAT equipment?

Yes, you can.  We stock all spare parts used on KAT equipment at our factory located in Bloemfontein or our warehouse in Boksburg.

Do you require a deposit?

We require a 15% deposit upon placing an order for your equipment and full payment before delivery takes place.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept electronic funds transfers (EFT’s), cheques, cash and financing.  We also accept trade-in’s of certain equipment.

Can you arrange financing?

Yes we can!  We are an approved supplier with all major banks, as well as Senwes and GWK.  We also have a dedicated agent with more than 30 years’ experience who takes care of our customers’ financing applications.

Can you delivery my equipment?

We can deliver your equipment to any location within South Africa.  We have a delivery truck with Hiab crane and flatbed trailer.  Alternatively we make use of extremely reliable transport partners.

Can you delivery to locations outside South Africa?

We can arrange with our export agents to assist you with transporting your equipment to your location outside South Africa.

How are spare parts delivered?

You can either collect your spare parts from our factory in Bloemfontein, or arrange your own courier to collect it for you.  Alternatively we can arrange with our courier company to deliver your spare parts.

Does your equipment carry any warranty?

All new KAT equipment carries a 1 (one) year product warranty that covers manufacturing defects.  Warranty cover excludes damage that arises from misuse, non-maintenance (for example, bearings that ceased due to irregular greasing).  Please note that the warranty is voided if the equipment is modified in any way within the warranty period, or if non-approved spare parts are used on the equipment.

Spare parts carry a 7-day warranty effective from date of delivery and any defects must be reported to us within this period.

What is the warranty period on my equipment?

All new KAT equipment carry a 1 (one) year warranty that covers manufacturing defects.  The warranty applied on equipment starts on the date of purchase, printed on the original invoice or delivery note.

Are there certain conditions that will void the warranty?

Yes.  Physical damage and/ or misuse or abuse of the equipment, fitment of spare parts other than original KAT parts or parts approved by KAT Implemente (Pty) Ltd as well as repairs and/ or modifications and alterations performed by unauthorised third parties will result in your equipment warranty being voided.

Parts on my equipment is faulty and I want to claim a warranty. What now?

If you believe or find any spare part on your equipment to be faulty and want to claim a warranty replacement, you have to return the item to us for evaluation.  If, after evaluation, we find that the fault is due to a manufacturing defect or poor workmanship, we will replace the part free of charge.  If the fault is due to misuse/ abuse or non-maintenance (for example, bearing ceased due to irregular greasing thereof), we unfortunately cannot replace the part.  We will then provide a quotation for the repair or new part, if repair is not possible.

What type of used equipment do you sell?

We sell any used agricultural-related equipment, mainly tractors, harvesters, planters, trailers and implements (balers, hay rakes, offsets, ploughs, diesel and water bowsers, etc.).

Can you sell my used equipment I no longer want or need?

Yes, most certainly!  Anyone is welcome to park their used equipment on our premises, free of charge.  You simply tell us what price you’d like to get for the equipment and we’ll do the marketing.

What if I want to buy used equipment?

If you want value-for-money used equipment, you’ve come to the right place.  We have a large database of customers who want to sell their used equipment and we’re also connected to a network of agri friends across South Africa, so we’re confident that we can find exactly what you’re looking for.  Head over to our services section, click on “I want equipment” and fill out the form to enable us to find the equipment you’re looking for.

Do you accept trade-ins?

We offer trade-ins on certain used equipment that complies with the requirements listed on our 100-point checklist for pre-owned equipment. Contact us for a quote.

Does the used equipment carry any warranty?

We offer a standard six-month warranty on certain approved equipment and focus on brands that have already been sold in South Africa, ensuring ready parts availability.  Other equipment is sold “as is”, but that does not mean you will bump into unpleasant surprises.  If there is a defect, problem, broken part or fault on the equipment, we will make this fact known to you upfront since we believe in engaging in honest deals only.

Can I finance used equipment?

Yes, you can.  The purchase of equipment often requires substantial capital investment. Contact us for assistance in arranging financing of our equipment.

Can you transport used equipment I buy from you?

We have a delivery truck with crane and flatbed trailer, therefore we can transport your used equipment.  Alternatively, we make use of utmost reliable transport partners to transport your equipment to you.  No machine is too big.

Is equipment, such as harvesters and tractors, registered and licenced?

Most equipment, such as harvester and tractors, are registered and licenced with the traffic department, however, certain older models are not.  Please ask your sales representative regarding your specific purchase.  If you need assistance in registering or licencing your equipment, we can help.  Ask your sales representative for more information.

Can I order online from your website?

Yes, you can. We have an online store where you can buy anything from tractors to cleaning products.

How do I make payment for an online purchase?

At this stage we accept electronic funds transfers (EFT’s), cheques or cash.  For high value items such as tractors or harvesters we accept financing.

What are Temo Parts?

Temo Parts is BHBW’s (previously Barloworld Agriculture) agricultural division.  Temo Parts supply ground engaging and hydraulic parts, tractor parts and accessories, transmission parts, fasteners, haymaking equipment, Geringhoff headers, spraying equipment, irrigation systems and workshop consumables.  Temo Parts gets you the right part at the right time and at the right price.

Do you sell Temo Parts?

We specialise in the ground engaging and hydraulic parts, transmission parts, fasteners, haymaking equipment and workshop consumables.

Do you keep stock of Temo Parts?

We stock certain items.  All other items can be shipped from the warehouse in Boksburg where sufficient quantities are available.  Orders placed and paid before 15:00 weekdays are processed on the same day and will arrive at KAT Implemente the next morning at around 10:00am.

What type of workshop consumables does the Temo range include?

The Temo range of workshop consumables includes wash & wax, car shampoo, dash spray, mag wheel cleaner, air freshener, water-based and solvent-based degreasers, grit and smooth hand cleaners.  These cleaners and degreasers are available in 1 litre, 5 litre or 25 litre containers.

What type of auctions do you host?

We host two equipment auctions per annum, one during February and the other during October.

What is auctioned?

Anything agriculture equipment related, for example, tractors, harvesters, sprayers, planters, fertilizer spreaders, bakkies, trailers, trucks, diesel and water bowsers and various implements.

Who manages the auctions?

Our auctions are managed by GWK Properties Free State.  Together with GWK Auctions they offer a comprehensive auction administration service.  You can visit their respective websites at and

Where do you find the items being auctioned off?

We buy and sell well-selected equipment throughout the year and these are then auctioned off.  Anyone who has something agriculture related (as mentioned above) they no longer want or need can subscribe the items to our auction.  More details and terms and conditions are provided through our website and social media channels in advance.

When and where can I view the items being auctioned off?

Auction lots are available for viewing on our website as soon as items are subscribed.  This usually happens from about four weeks prior to the auction date. Lots can also be viewed at our premises from the week before the auction date. You can subscribe to our auction news feed to be notified of upcoming auctions and as lots are subscribed and available for viewing at our premises.  Alternatively you can visit and search the web reference to view lots on GWK’s website.

When do I register for the auction?

You can pre-register on our website for any of our auctions.  Simply go to “Auctions” and click on “Register” to fill out your details.  You can collect your bid number from 08:00 am from the auction office on the day of the auction.

You can also register from 08:00 am on the day of the auction, however, we urge you to pre-register to avoid the queue.

Do I have to pay a deposit?

There is no need to pay an upfront deposit, however, this is optional if you choose to.  If you’ve won a bid, GWK Auctions will generate a pro forma invoice for you which you can use to make payment.

Can I finance equipment I bought at your auction?

Yes.  You can even arrange with your bank or finance institution to pre-approve finance in your name.  Once you’ve won a bid, you can inform your banker of the item’s details.  Obtaining pre-approved finance significantly speeds up the finance process, allowing you to take ownership of your equipment shortly after the auction.

When can I collect equipment I bought on auction?

Once GWK Auctions has received your payment, a removal certificate will be printed which authorises you to remove the goods from the auction property.

What are your trading hours?

We are open from 08:00am to 17:00pm Mondays to Fridays.  We are closed on Saturdays, Sundays and Public Holidays.

Will you give out my contact details to third parties?

Absolutely not.  We respect your privacy and wouldn’t want anyone to use your details in an unsolicited manner.  All details you provide to us are solely for our professional purposes only.
